Wondering if anyone out there has encountered this problem . VW Golf 1.4 when the car stops moving the windscreen wipers cut out, also the jet spray for the windscreen was has stopped working at all.
This only started a few weeks ago just after i got the car serviced, i brought it back to the local garage, who i must say are very reliable and were very helpful, but despite them trying all avenues and getting in touch with wv dealers and specialist mechanics it has them all stumped.
Seems like a software/computer problem but no luck so far.

It's an 05. The spray/ pump works for the rear window, but not for the front.

Is it the case with these models that if the boot or bonnet aren't closed properly then the washer and wiper won't work?

It's normal for the wipers to go to intermittent when stopped.

Ya when the bonnet is not closed down properly an alarm goes off, like when the drivers door is ajar, they tried that.
@ EPM They don't go intermittant they stop altogether, and start again when the car moves.

I have seen it before on the Mk5 and it was a faulty bonnet switch. If you find a garage with decent diagnostic gear like VCDS and more importantly the experience of how to use it then it should be only a few minutes work to verify whether the bonnet switch is working properly.

The local garage has a fairly basic diagnostic set up , he tried and found nothing, so my best bet is to go to a main dealers and let them run it through their systems which would be more comprehensive and more up to date.
NCT is in a few weeks so no time for dilly dallying.

There are plenty of independents who will have equipment to do the same job as the dealer in this case and who won't feel the need to charge you €70 just to do a scan for you.

What part of Cork are you in? Someone on here might be able to recommend a garage local to you.

Autowerks in Midleton should sort you out if it's close by.

They're about 30 mins away from you but are vag specialists. There's another in the marina commercial park but the name escapes me.

Finally got this sorted.2 local garages couldn't sort it so i had to go through a main dealers. The problem was a part called a Bonnet box. For some reason it was telling the cars main computer that the bonnet wasn't fully closed causing the front wipers, and the spray jet wash to cut out.
They tried to reboot it but no luck so it was a replacement job e300 but i was between a rock and a hard place with the nct on the horizon.
