New A6 footwell issues

I'm posting this as an fyi to any prospective buyers of the the new Audi A6(C7). I have had my new A6 with an auto gearbox for the last month now, and am having serious issues with the lack of room in the driver's side footwell. The problem is the centre bulkhead, which angles in towards the pedals leaving no room for your left foot, and because of the narrowing footwell, it pushes your the toe of your shoe inwards so it looks like you have mild club foot. When I figure out how to post a photo that isn't enormous, I will do so.
Your right leg doesn't fare much better as the pedals are well to the right, forcing both feet to be skewed to the right. The result of this is cramp after only a few minutes. If I could get my money back, I would hand in my keys tomorrow. How a car of this size can be so cramped just amazes me as my previous car was the C5-1997 manual version which had no such problems.

not trying to be smart but did you not test drive it at the time of buying to get a feel of the car?

Audis are not the only cars to suffer in the conversion to RHD. Sorry for your trouble OP, this goes to show the importance of an extended test drive when spending your hard earned.

The A4 and A5 are notoriously bad for this as well. The Merc E-class was another noted offender as I recall too.

I did take a test drive, and my wife came along too so that we would not miss anything. :o
The reality is though that you are so bamboozled by how this bluetooth this and MMI that work, that you can forget the basics like is the car comfortable to sit in!! But, it's not like this was put together by a few lads in a shed in Hamburg. We are talking about a major manufacturer who have being making RHD cars for at least 20-30 years!
You're right TTD, the front passenger footwell has all the space in the world.

It is a RHD problem only. It seems to bother some people more than others.

Ive got an A5 and to be honest, I dont have an issue with it in that regard at all. Yes, the pedals are offset a bit but if Im honest, its not something I would even notice. I actually think the space for the left foot in my car is fantasy. With my correct driving position, my left foot is actually straight out when resting on the footrest. This is very comfortable when cruising. Its the first car Ive been able to do that in and im normal height etc.
Perhaps the different engine or gearbox options create more problems than are present in mine

In the Process of Buying a A6 Avant if you could post a picture it would be great as when i took a test drive i didn't hugely notice it...

Hi PHD, actually I raised the seat as much as I could without smacking my head off the door frame every time I get out of the car. This alleviated things a bit, but highlighted the fact that the foot rest is a lot further back than the pedals. So, you have a choice of resting your left foot comfortably on the foot with your right knee in the air, or get your right leg sorted and have your left foot dangling.
Btw, I'm a very average size, 5' 11" 80kg, and no, I don't walk around in circles because one leg is longer than the other. While the footwell has definitely contracted from previous models of the A6 due to Audi moving the engine back for better balance, I now think that if the foot rest actually did it's job, you might not notice it too much.
Best of luck with your purchase anyway, I just hope they give you a trolley to help carry your keys around in, because they are flipping enormous!!

That's just so, as you go about your daily business, as many people as possible will see that you drive an Audi! It combines with the requirement to get the front grill as close as possible to the bumper of the car in front on a motorway to help people notice the brand.:D:P
