Dublin Bus route 67

    Hey,

I'm just a bit confused about the Dublin Bus routes, with the fare calculation and different stages

    I'm going to be travelling the following route, from Maynooth to Celbridge road, and the same route back;

    http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Route-Planner/Route-Planner-Map/?planchoice=0

Can anyone help me with estimating how much this fare will cost?

I'm also going to be getting a leap card soon. Is this better way to pay for the bus? Do I tell the bus driver where I'm going to and then scan the card?

Sorry about all the questions and different topics :D

    Thanks

    Fare Calculation:
It depends on where on the Celbridge Road you are going to. That is not clear from your post!

Basically to calculate your fare, look at the stages at the bottom of the timetable page here. Start at the stage that is either at your stop, or the nearest stage before your stop if your stop is not a stage. Then figure out which stage is the either the stop you are going to or the if it is not a stage, the first stage after your stop.

Subtract one stage number from the other and that is the number of stages you are travelling.

So for example if you board at the terminus, you are boarding at stage 37, and if you get off at Young's Garage you are getting off at stage 47 - that is 10 stages.

The appropriate cash and LEAP fares are listed here.

    Prepaid Tickets:
Prepaid tickets are listed here - these may offer a better alternative to either cash/LEAP.

Bear in mind that the rambler and Travel 90 tickets tend to be valid for use on non-consecutive days over an 18-month period - they are very handy for occasional use.

    LEAP Card Procedure:
With LEAP unless your fare is EUR 2.40, then you must put the card on the driver's machine and tell him where you are going.

If the fare is EUR 2.40 then you can use the validator on the right hand side.

    Thanks Ixflyer,

sorry the Dublin bus link worked awhile ago but doesn't seem to want to now :)

Here's a different link (you need to click the 'include large map' option at the top of the page to see the route)

    http://maps.google.ie/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Celbridge+Rd&daddr=53.364436,-6.565437+to:53.345191,-6.5423761+to:Dublin+Rd&hl=en&geocode=Fc9sLgMdG3-b_w%3BFdRGLgMdw9Gb_ynbYRNYNnBnSDERrlr8pscAEw%3BFaf7LQMd2Cuc_ylpgnxmqXFnSDHBdvX7pscAEw%3BFYD4LQMdlLic_w&sll=53.349322,-6.528969&sspn=0.037965,0.077162&vpsrc=0&mra=ls&via=1,2&ie=UTF8&t=m&z=13&layer=c&ei=uelMT5afKomJ4gTz8ISwCg&pw=2

I'm working it out to be about 9/10 stages, which means the fare will be €1.95 I think?

What do I do with the LEAP card in this situation? I'm still confused, sorry.

    Thanks

Ok, €2.40 is the maximum to be paid, so I guess I do what you first suggested

Unless you want to, you don't even need to know your fare if using a Leap (not LEAP) card. Just tell the driver your destination and the appropriate deduction will be made.

That stop is Young's Garage which is 10 stages.

Fare is therefore EUR 2.15 cash and EUR 1.95 on LEAP.

If using LEAP just place the card on the point marked on the driver's ticket machine and ask him for EUR 1.95.
