I could really do with some help picking a holiday – too many choices and I cannot decide!

We are two 30 year olds who like a bit of sun, good food, good sightseeing, variety and mix of being out and about and relaxing.

    I would like:

    · 2 weeks away – anytime from late April to be back by the end of May. Can be flexible +/-on duration if travel to/from takes time.

    · Budget is €4,000 for the holiday and spending money

    · Somewhere ‘different’ – possibly a ‘one time only’ kind of holiday

    · Mix of activity/sightseeing and relaxation

    · Clean & comfortable accommodation

    · Good food, ‘gentle’ nightlife (noting too crazy!)

    I don’t want:

    · 2 weeks of all inclusive, I wouldn’t mind this being part of a holiday, but not the full two weeks

    · Too much travel – 2 or 3 locations would be OK, any more and it stops being a holiday!

    · To be overly reliant on a car as we have only one driver (might have a novice driver by April if he passes his test!) – so a road-trip is out!! A small amount of driving would be OK

    · We don’t want a holiday focused on drinking

A bit about where we have been and what we thought:

    · 16 nights Orlando – LOVED IT!! Liked landing somewhere totally different every day, with minimal travel involved. Each park was like a different world! Also liked the few days off we had to chill by the pool

    · 2 week all-inclusive in Lanzarote – mixed feelings, the Iberostar Costa Colero was lovely, but it all got a bit repetitive and boring after the first week

    · 2 weeks self catering in Alvor, Protugal –have been here a few times and love it. But, it is the old reliable and where I can see myself going back to with kids, so not this year!

    · Weekend in Prague – loved it, compact and interesting

    · Weekend in Budapest – didn’t love it so much. Poverty and homelessness on the streets was difficult. People not friendly, didn’t feel safe

    · New York – HATED IT! Odd I know, but not my scene

    · San Francisco – LOVED IT – chilled, friendly, didn’t feel like a ‘big city’

    · Marbella, Spain – hated it. Had a beautiful apartment but something about Spain left me cold

    Looking forward to your suggestions!

Cuba. You could do a week AI in Varadero or Cayo Coco for the beach element and then travel around a bit.

Thailand? A few days in bangkok followed by one or two of the islands? Laods of stuff to do - shows, shopping, diving, snorkelling, speedboat trips, canoing etc

Hi Timmy, I visited Turks and Caicos in July and it was heavenly. It's a small island that is close to Cuba and Haiti. If you do some research you will be able to stay within your budget. Stay away from the resorts. I think if you go to tripadvisor you will get some great ideas.

South Africa is brillent. Cape town for a week and maybe up to Umlhanga near Durban for the second one. You could also hire a car in Capetown and drive the Garden Route as it's know. It's an awful lot safer than what it's been made out to be. I'v been 5 times and they still did'nt get me.;)

I'd second South Africa. Capetown is a lovely city to chill out in and you have so many options after that, Winelands, Garden Route, Game Reserve/Safari.

There's pretty much no time difference which is great, none of your holiday wasted on jet lag ;)

Any other suggestions? Don't fancy the idea of ST and haven't managed to find an easy way to get to turns and caicos

Croatia/Montenegro/Albania - any or some of them. All are beautiful countries with lots to see.

    Egypt

    Malaysia - great shopping, beaches.

How long are you willing to spend on a flight?

Croatia is a good suggestion. Went there last year and enjoyed it a lot, no sandy beaches though. Check out a holiday including Brac (Bol) and Hvar Islands. Bol is amazing.

    Brazil - north east Brazil

    jericoacoara

fly through Lisbon - aer lingus to Lisbon think that you have to spend night.

alternatively Dublin london rio fortaleza (I went this way but long)

    then to Fortaleza with TAM

4 hours by private driver car from airport to Jeri. you can get a chopper too but not sure how much that costs!

you could break up trip and stay in Cumbuco or other places along the way.

truely a paradise - unique place and lots to do espeically if you're into watersports. lovely weather year-round.

Mosquito Blue is the high end place to stay in but lots of options around the range.

    +1

Beaches, safaris, amazing views. SA would be a good mix. But check the weather as they may be coming into their winter around May/June.
