Hotpoint Dishwasher

Hope someone can give me a bit of guidance on this.
I have an Powerpoint dishwasher (model BF1680). Yesterday it tripped the fuse shortly after it started. I think it might be a problem with the heating element as the washer starts as normal but a couple of minutes into the cycle it stops suddenly (and trips the fuse).
The washer is about 7 years old and I vaguely remember a similar problem occurring about a year after I bought it. At the time the repair was covered by warranty. I'm going to call Powerpoint to see what they charge for a repair but in advance of that can anyone give me advice on the problem and rough costs to get it repaired. Money is tight but should I be looking at buying a new dishwasher given that it's almost 7 years old?
    Thanks in advance.

At what point in the cycle does it stop, does it spray water around for example.
I recently replaced a circulation pump and that cost €90 from the UK via Ebay, the same pump would have cost about €200 if bought locally.

Thanks for the response dolanbaker. The dishwasher stops within a couple of minutes of starting. It does spray water around which I presume rules out the circulation pump?

What did you do in the end?

Powerpoint are cheap machines, I'd be inclined not to repair at this stage.

I'd also refrain from purchasing their white goods as well, quality tends to be poor

It's actually a hotpoint dishwasher not powerpoint as I described above.
Hotpoint are coming to fix it hopefully tomorrow. They charge €134, this includes labour and parts, although they said if they can't repair it they will refund €80 so the net cost would be €54.
They said there is a cheaper rate of €114 but that only applies to newer machines (mine is over 5 years old).

Ah right. That's one thing I really dislike about Hotpoint, the call out charge. For future reference, if your machine is past the parts guarantee it'd be far cheaper to call out an independent engineer, but I didn't realise they'd refund 80 if it can't be fixed.
Let us know how you get on

I finally got the dishwasher repaired today. It took two visits from the service engineer to complete the repair.
He had to replace both the heating element and the wiring harness assembly.
Total cost for both visits including parts was €134.

Having the same problem do you have details for that price. Thanks
