    Hi Folks,

Since the first of january I moved from broadband only with upc to the full Tv/Phone/Broadband package.

While im delighted with the phone and broadband the Tv service is utter muck. Mind you I should have known better as last time I had UPC we were plauged with the same problems; Sticky, freezing picture. Irratic recordings, unbeliveably slow EPG ......

Now heres the question ... is there a cancellation fee for getting rid of the TV part of the package ? I will be holding onto the broadband and phone but the TV has to go !!!

    Many Thanks

There will be a fee of €150 I'm afraid, since you are in contract until January 2013 with the TV. After that then you can downgrade for €10.16, but until then it defo will be €150!

Hi lads, I won't start a new thread, just hijack this one! I'm canceling my UPC TV but keeping my Broadband. I've gotten Sky+ in already so was going to cancel UPC the same day but from reading a few threads here I only just realised they require a 30 notice period

My main query is what is the best way to cancel? It seems they make things as awkward as possible to disconnect, send an email? Send a letter? Call them?
I just need to know the steps to take? What I was going to do was call and cancel, back it up with a letter and send back the box, sound good?

The other thing is the Sky lad told me my 'broadband' would have to be moved from the TV point to the the hallway to fully avail of Sky+ features, I can't "multi-task" as things stand, anyone else had this problem? He said UPC will do it but I'll have to ask, but am dreading how awkward it will be as I'm canceling the TV!! :o

I don't know why you'd have to move the broadband, sky plus doesn't need a phoneline or internet. Unless you have multiroom.

I recently cancelled my UPC. Called the 1908 number, asked to cancel, got put through to the 'retention team', who tried to persuade me to stay, stood firm and was asked to either write (!) or email (guess which I chose!) them and request a cancellation which I did. Got a reply almost immediately, and less than a week later my old box was picked up, pretty painless really. They will continue to charge you for 30 days though which is a bit of a bummer.

Thanks for the responses lads. Ah, the multi room would be the reason I'd say. I'm hearing the info second-hand (he explained it to the missus) but it was something along the lines of needing two ports for the Sky+ and that the broadband was currently occupying one.

Did you need your account no. etc? I've been with them over 18 months and am on paperless billing so can't find anything with any account details on it!!

Yes you do. If you're on paperless billing then just log on to My UPC and look at one of the bills, it's on there at the top.

I'll have to remember my login details now, lol. Sorry to be a pain in the arse now, but what was the UPC email address you used, the website only seems to have an online form. I'm in work now so an email would be easier than spending time on hold over the phone.

I was asked by the UPC rep I was transferred to to email resolutionteam@upc.ie, but I don't know whether they'll accept cancellations via that email address without you calling them to properly establish your identity first. You can always try though.

It sounds like the Sky installer plans on using the UPC cabelling, which is not necessary tbh. They should be able to cable Sky seperate from UPC and not have either interfere with the other.
