Scammed out of nearly 400 pounds (pretty much all the money I had) when I was about 17/18 and paid for something on e-bay using western union. :(
I was young, didn't have a clue about buying online (only had a PC a few months) and too trustworthy for my own good.
But, it made me wiser in the long run. I learned a harsh lesson and moved on.

someone stole all my Habbo Hotel furniture once. I was 12 and was 'dating' a boy (maybe) online, we gave each other our passwords as a sign of our commitment. The next day I logged in and all my stuff was gone and the bastard had changed his password.

Nope, never scammed really, I know better than that.

However, before christmas I was selling some snap together model planes on Adverts.ie. They sold pretty well and I usually didnt send them until I confirmed that the buyers had transfered the money.

The previous night a buyer had confirmed he wanted one, so I said Ill send it in the morning if he can transfer the money by then. He said he definitely would and gave me his details etc.
The next morning I waited for the money to be transfered, but I was short on time and wanted to stick to my promise so popped into the post office and mailed it off.
No less than 10 mins after I mailed the package the buyer text me saying he was pulling out.
I text him explaining the situation, he promised he would pay me next week when his paycheck gets through....never heard from him again.

I didnt follow him up or ask whats the story because 1) It was totally my own fault for sending it off without payment, I should have waited. 2) It was only €12 and I was happy to get the plane off my hands.

I wasnt angry or anything. I forgot about it the next day and didnt really care too much :pac:

Bought a phone on eBay from a seller in Roscommon for €200. Piece of cráp only lasted 3 months. Connection port came loose & wouldn't charge, vibrate broke, all sound broke & when I took it apart I found a lump of Blu-Tack stuck inside, surely comprising a shítty repair job.

Mugged. Never again will I buy from eBay.

We fully sun dry and pepper mill any used cat litter before selling it on. You'll be fine. It's grand.

    Nearly.

We were considering getting an English bulldog for AAAAGES, when lo and behold, I stumbled across an ad on done deal, or gum tree (can't remember now) that was offering free ones to good homes!

Now, as these dogs normally sell for upwards of a grand, I was on to the add like a bat out of hell. I thought something was a miss when the 'seller' didn't have a contact number, just an email address. However, when I received the email from them, telling me that the dogs were in Nigeria, and I could have it free when I sent the veterinarian's and transport fees (Fromm Nigeria to Dublin) I knew it was a con!

Close, but no cigar Nigerian scammers!

With spam bots etc, they literally send million's of these scam emails out across the world every day.

Not the best at maths to tell you the truth, but even if it was a million emails a year, just 1% of then would be 100,000 so, 0.5% = 50,000 , 0.01% = 1000 People, so using these sums, I'd say over a year they get a good few suckers!

I wouldn't say I was scammed but I bought a ticket to foo fighters off eBay a few years ago. I was worried because the day came and I hadn't received the ticket. I went to school praying that the ticket would be delivered that day. When I came home, it hadn't arrived so I sent your man a pretty angry email because I thought he had scammed me. I had to buy another ticket off a scalper outside the point. The next day, the ticket came and i appolagized to your man.

Bought a laptop in Fleabay for 100 quid from a chancer that described it as working with corresponding screen shots of a functional machine. When it was delivered it was obviously tampered with and wouldn't even power up. I suspected the MB was fried. It took several weeks of headed arguments and ended up with negative feedback from myself. About a month later I noticed that his account was removed from the site. He obviously tried to pull the same stunt on someone else.
