One off job

My friend has asked me to wire his new house for him.
I'm claiming social welfare at the moment, but would be signing off to do the job.
Its going to be a massive house with alot of extras so the price will be a couple of thousand including materials.
Now my question is, with a one off job like this, how do I go about paying tax?
I was told I might have to set up my own sort of tempory company.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Chris

You will not need to set up a company to pay tax on this job, you can work as a sole trader and register with Revenue to pay tax as a self employeed individual. If you put in a search for "IT48" in this search page on Revenue.ie all the details you should require will be present. http://www.revenue.ie/revsearch/search.jsp

Had a quick look through it.
Since its a once off it seems like its going to be more hassle than its worth.

There is the accounts to be prepared tax return to be filed.

But you should have insurance to enter a site, safe pass ect. Your need a cert of compliance also.

Might be more hassel than its worth.
