Old Darnley Lodge

Hi guys,

My Finace and I went to view The Old Darnely Lodge in Athboy yesterday as a possible venue for our wedding reception. Has anyone been to a wedding here or had their reception here? I doesn't look much from the outside but inside the room itself is a grand size and with a garden off it, it seems like a very friendly cosy hotel, although probably not the average lavish venue for a wedding.

My sister had her wedding reception there and it was great. The staff were really lovely, food was great (and piping hot when it arrived).
I actually considered it for my wedding this June but the dates weren't available.

I had my reception there in 2007, i would highly recommend it. The staff were fantastic, very accomodating, the Darnley suite is truly beautiful. I was at my cousins wedding a few years before mine and fell in love with the place, the garden is small enough but very pretty for photographs.

I think you hit the nail on the head really, the outside let's it down a bit but its a good room for a larger wedding and the staff are sound and helpful

Food was great but the outside and function room are a let down, I suppose it depends on price

food was beautiful,they came around with seconds even before i finished the first portion, which i liked
