    Hi all,

I am currently planning a new build in the limerick area and am looking for any reccomendations for window suppliers and fitters.

As can be seen from the attached am looking to put in uPVC windows.

In the build am spending more money on insulation rather than fancy heating systems so lloking for a good u value for both window and frame. If the price is right will probably go triple glaze.

    Thanks in advance

your specification is lacking some detail -
    1. why are you not telling your window manufacturer what U-value and Solar factors etc you require?
    2. have you done a provisional BER?
    3. do you know what your % glazing is, to comply with part L 2011?

    1. why are you not telling your window manufacturer what U-value and Solar factors etc you require?
As per the spec Manufacturer has to quote what the U value of their window and U value of window and frame. If there U value v's price is not competitive compared to other quotes they don’t win the tender. Obviously we would all like the lowest U value possible but in today’s world cost will always be a factor

2.have you done a provisional BER?

On the way this week hopefully

    3. do you know what your % glazing is, to comply with part L 2011?

No but this will not be a concern. windows do not make up a massive % anyway

this will inform you of the minimum glazing spec you require. this is what I meant by the above U-value and Solar factors
    3. do you know what your % glazing is, to comply with part L 2011?

No but this will not be a concern. windows do not make up a massive % anyway
your missing the point - do you have an architect on board?

    Mcorriga,
Did you find a good window supplier in the end? Or possibly a few good ones?

I am also looking for a PVC window supplier.... We are in Co Clare area... which is not so far from Limerick...and preferably looking for windows with good U-values also.

I am surprised that nobody offered you any suggestion on suppliers here.

    Dave

As per the charter all suggestions must be via PM....companies cannot be named in case of shills.
He probably did get suggestions on suppliers but again they would have been in a private message and not named on the forum page.

Posting business names here in this forum or posting anything at all in this thread has the same outcome :D

mfceiling give a good explanation above.
