    hi there
    Have 4 zones
    zone 1-underfloor
zone 2 office and drawing/dining room
zone 3 tv room and bedrooms
    zone 4 domestic hot water

My confusion is that I have them all on a clock etc and underfloor is on/off 4/5 hours at time and working ok

Zone 2 I only have timed to come on 1 hour morning and 1 hour at night (as its a warm house)

Came home just now (its timed to come on 7-8 pm) and I notice it is scorching hot (the rads)

Very confused. Im goin to bed now so dont know when it will stay on till. As matter of interest Zone 1 and 3 are on now till 11

Could underfloor heating be in any weird way tied up with the other two zones. ?

    Many thanks.

It sounds like a zone valve is stuck or faulty and permanently calling for heat.

+1. Definitely sounds like a motorized valve stuck in the open position. This will give a permanent live to call in the boiler.

Thank you for your responses and sorry only getting back to you now. The motorised valve is at 'auto'. Is that correct.
Plus it is a new valve. Could it really be broken already? I recall prev plumber [now retired] only installed that around 4 months ago. I thought zone 2 was in tandem with zone 1 but think youre right that its calling for heat all the time. Plus even though I have stats the heat rads seem to be roasting,OBVIOUSLY i have turned them off so its not costing me a small fortune!
Do you really think its motorised valve thats broken. Could there be any other reason?
Towel rails seem not to be on any zone clock and we cannot get them to work too.....
    Any ideas?
Thank you so much in advance

    auto is correct

i think a call out for an electrician may resolve this issue for you
it will be too complicated to resolve here imho

someone who is familiar with such systems can check all m.v are operating correctly and set the times and temperatures for you and then run through the system and explain it to you

Isn't there a manual on the valve?? Could you try closing that and see if it cools down?
