Timing could be out alittle...could be the advance solenoid...

    What year is the van...?

thanks for the reply its 2005 ,it starts first turn thats why iwas thinking would timing be right but maybe not ,i must plug it in tommorow but i heard it could be that solenoid too ,its ahard knock now .i wonder is that solenoid seized from being idle

Was the timing belt replaced lately...?
The injector pump on these are on slots so there is a certain amount of adjustment....But this is not normally adjusted.
See if there are any codes logged....If there are i'd be guessing you'll have
    p0170.

no codes present but belt was changed recently to the previous owner,i was checking the auto data timing belt book and the pump has elongated holes so maybe it is advanced too much

p1145) Lucas DCNZ - Noise on needle lift sensor. Incoherence Lack of H025 21 Switching - Adaptive fuel at limit

What ever that is, maybe a timing advance solenoid an inlet metering valve?

If you look at the injectors you will see one with a wire attached to it...check
the wiring back to the connector and make sure its not broken and there is a good connection on the plug.
If all looks o.k maybe pop in another injector or go to a diesel specialist to get it checked out.
Unplug the connector and listen if it sounds the same when unplugged/
    plugged in...?

The Modus would have a function for checking the fuel trim across the 4 injectors in its live data, assuming its a common rail injection system. Have a look at the figures during part load driving and see if any of the figures are way different from the others. That would give you an idea of a faulty injector.
Im asuming if course that basis like oil level and correct weight and coling system efficiency have been checked...

van is ticking over perfect so im thinking its not an injector ,im gonna order a solenoid on-line,i checked injection degress on modus live data and fuel requested was 13 deg and actual was the same, but van was hot,..i checked the connector on the injector 4 and twisted pins so connection i would think is fine ,thanks for help lads keep it coming .

update :checked timing and looks bang on,disconnected advance solenoid and seems louder and when plugged in it lessens, checked continuity of that knock sensor on the injector and is 99 ohms which i think is fine ,am i looking at an injector ??????????

Its worth checking wiring back to engine ecu before you go fitting an injector.
Pin 1 from injector (Cable no 1388) go's to J2 on ecu.
Pin 2 from injector (cable no 1260) go's to K3 on ecu.
Both are on the 48 way ecu connector.

done 0.08 ohms between connector and ecu ,no short to ground but checked resistance on knock sensor again and it was 116 ohms which cant be right so must change the injector/sensor
