There's no special rules for students AFAIK, it just depends on income levels. If you think you've paid too much tax either go to revenue website or call them and request a P21 balancing statement for last year

There are no special rules for students. If you think you overpaid tax for last year login to your PAYE Anytime account and request a review for 2011.

Sounds like they do not have evidence of your Pay and Tax for 2011 on file. If that is the case then you need to send in parts 2 and 3 of your P45 for 2011 requesting a review. As you only had the summer job and were issued a P45 for 2011, you wouldn't have a P60 as well. A P60 is issued to you by your employer, if you are listed as employed by them on 31st of December.

Sorry to hi-jack but what address did they say to send it to? Also, did you need to include any other details such as bank account info to have it refunded to?

The address will depend on where you live.

Put your PPS no in the contact locator in the contact details section of the Revenue website.

But bear in mind, you may not need to send anything, depending on what you need to do.
