I'm looking for a Grass Valley ADVC55 or similar firewire capture/interface. Must have composite input and stereo audio, compatible with PC and Mac.

    Cheers,

You could also consider an old Sony camcorder, using a DCR-TRV 320E myself, you can plug in a composite source or S-VHS and stereo audio and it converts it on the fly over firewire.
Will also play 8mm, Hi8 and digital8 tapes.
Quality is great and it's been my workhorse for years.
Beware of newer Sony digital 8 camcorders, Sony deleted the on the fly conversion option and they don't play analog tapes.
