Right i have got quite good at the soft modding bit and havent blown anything up in quite a while :D

I used to have an old pc with IDE connections but that has been cannabalised and i have only sata connections in my new pc

    Question is

Can i install a bigger hdd on a xbox without using a modchip or an ide pc

I can ftp into the xbox and copy all the backup files and anything else so can i just whack a big hdd into the xbox and copy stuff off a dvd?

Also if any of this risks explosions/electricution then all the better:D

I believe you will have at least 1 IDE port and using xboxhdm 2.2 form usb, should work ok did it twice. i plug the power before the linux boot to avoid bnios issues and worked well for me...

If no ide is present on your current pc, you need a moled splitter and "Chimp" homebrew to clone HDDs from the xbox by after loading unplugging the cable behind the dvd and plugging your hdd to upgrade to as slave...
