I have rooted my desire last night and all is well. I want to flash this Rom because it looks great and has all the power features I want. Is there anyone here using this rom? Some say gps issues are common.

    Thanks

It was my ROM on the Desire before I got a Sensation. I used it for ages with no issues. GPS worked fine.

Same with me. Worked grand and had no problems with it.

Only last week I stuck on MildWild (the one based on CM) and now I'm hooked on that. I basically restored it to exactly how I used to have CM7, with the same launcher and apps etc, but now its a lot faster and smoother!

CM7 was great on the Desire, GPS worked flawlessly. The next release had an issue with aGPS, at least on the port to Sensation.

Another vote for MildWild from me, it's excellent I have to say.

Asked this on another post a while back but alas no body seemed interested - also looking at CyanogenMod for my Desire but as I am a complete NOOB I had a few questions. I am thinking of installing the latest version of CyanogenMod on my HTC Desire.

    • What will the HTC Unlock Bootloader do for me? (http://htcdev.com/bootloader)
Is this rooting my phone ready for a CyanogenMod Install?

    • do I need to do something else

    • is CyanogenMod a straight forward to install? (Have looked at the wiki and it seems ok but not for the faint hearted)

    • is there a lot of tinkering required with CyanogenMod? (I am sick of messing with the phone and just want something that works and has more space for apps)

    • Do I have to continually update the CyanogenMod version as newer ones become available or will it do it itself?

    • I may be getting a new phone over the next 3 months – will this affect my trade in value or can the phone just be set back to default HTC Sense when I trade it in? (warranty is well over so not worried about that)

    • And finally – is it really worth it (I like the stock HTC Sense and its ease of use and the fact that I have it set up how I like and it requires minimal tinkering)

Well I flashed it as per my original post. It ran very laggy on my phone, certainly not the performance boost I was expecting. Tried tweaking it to improve it but was just a complete dog on my desire. I reflashed it again and partitioned my SD just to be sure my original install wasn't dodgy and made no difference. I restored to stock gingerbread.

After your first install, did you factory reset as a matter of interest?

Sometimes first boot of a ROM can be very laggy, then you factory reset and it works fine....

Yeah its great little rom so it is. I installed it on my Vodafone 858 because the stock rom on it (android 2.2. I believe) was horrible. Nothing but lagging and freezes and shíte fuctionality. CM7 is the exact opposite, nifty quick and non of the previous issues with it. Even the screen resolution was a lot sharper so it looked much better too. Overall it works so much quicker on the phone even without overclocking the CPU. No gps issues either. But to be honest what ya get out of it totally depends on how you feel about the stock rom you have at the moment.

I did, I reset, properly partitioned and formatted SD etc. I dont understand why it was so slow on my phone. I was expecting a lot from this Rom after reading all the hype about it.

I might try Supernova and see how I get on with that.

Firstly, if you don't know what you're doing, there are risks involved. If you're comfortable doing what's in the wiki then go for it.

Secondly, if you like Sense you probably won't like it.
