Hi, my car is booked in for the NCT shortly and I have a small chip on the windscreen, just looking for some advice on whether it will fail on this, I don't have windscreen coverage.
    Should I
    a) Get it fixed with autoglass
    b) buy a self repair kit
    c) try to hide it, it's low down on the windscreen and I could put my sat nav holder on it to try and cover it as it wouldn't look out of place.

How big is it (diameter) ?

Where is it located on the windscreen?

It's approx the size of a 1 cent coin

It's roughly in the centre of the windscreen but low down near dashboard.

You should be OK then for NCT.

However you should get if fixed, before it cracks further.

NCT manual page 26 covers this here

ZONE A (Directly in front of driver)
Damage that can be contained within a 10mm diameter circle (maximum of two defects provided they are more than 100mm apart).

Zone B (Either side of zone A)
Damage that can be contained within a 20mm diameter circle or hairline cracks up to 30mm long (maximum of two defects provided they are more than 100mm apart).

    Zone C (Passenger side)
Damage that can be contained within a 40mm diameter circle (maximum of two defects provided they are more than 100mm apart).

After looking at that I think mine should pass , thanks for the help.

I have a chip about the size of my small fingernail just left of my eyeline at the center of my windscreen and they didnt even mention it. So long as its not in your eyelind you should be fine.
