Does anyone know what is the story with ordering and cancelling Setanta Sports? I want it tonight for one race and am half considering just biting the bullet and paying the €15 to see it, but I dont want to keep it beyond the one month, so do they charge a fee to have it removed? How awkward are they to downgrade services when you try to remove channels?

There is a downgrade charge with UPC I am not sure if it is €10 or €20.

And that applies to removing channels as well yeah? I knew about it if you want to get rid of a service (say cancel phone or TV). Ah well, I wont bother so. Cheers.

AFAIK they do not charge a downgrade fee if you are past you initial year. I think thats because the know you can walk if they do try to screw you.

I was charged a downgrade fee for cancelling my tv subscription despite being with them close to three years :(

This sounds more appealing. Its actually for the NASCAR I want it. I dont particulaly want to pay it, but I dont have much of a choice unless I can find a way to get DirectTV in Ireland...

Is that if you buy direct through Setanta for Sky? UPC didnt seem to know anything about it...

When I spoke with them they said there would be a downgrade charge if I wanted to drop Setanta; Im not sure if he realised I have been a customer for over a year or not though.

I'm not sure it matters, as I was a customer for 5/6 years

I rang to cancel last August. My first year was just up. I was put on to Cancellations who gave me a fiver a month off and allowed me downgrade from the Max Pack without charge. If you dont ask, you wont get.

Thats a bit different when you get put onto the cancellations/retentions dept and they are making you an offer to keep you on board. It would be different if you werent threatening to leave I suspect...
