depends what you want, the 320d is a great car to drive, is fine if theres only 2 adults , and is a handy size for parking etc

the 520d is far more comfortable and still decent to drive but not the "go cart" that the 320d is in the corners. its more spacious has a slightly bigger boot and fits 4 big adults in comfort and is no more expensive to run than the 320d

personally i have had 2 x 320d's and a 523i in the past and my mrs drives a E90 320d aswell they are a great car, but for me i now find them a bit cramped, after owning a 5 series and now a 6 series id find it very hard to go back to the smaller more cramped interior

depends what you want / need

From memory, the E60 is actually a little lighter than the E90. I've always thought that the interior of the E60 felt a bit cheaper. I'd say it all comes down to how much you want the extra space.

Had a 520 and 318 both petrol, loved the 3 series hated the 5 series, it felt too big and cumbersome. I'd stick with the 320!

The E60 is not lighter than the E90 but the difference is much less than I would have expected. There's a difference of 95kg between M-Sport E60 and E90

Yeah and men look silly driving mini coopers. Shut up! I would probably go for the 320 as i love the shape of them but a nice 5 series with those spider type wheels can be a real head turner as well.

Banned for trolling based on the above and past history.

Anymore trolling on your return and it will be a permaban.

oh i forgot women should only be driving something small like a kia or something:eek: thanks for the help.

well i also drive a nissan navara with horse trailer a i dont mind a bigger car. i do like the shape of the 320 but as i have the same shape now in the 06 one id thought id go for the 5 series. just wondering does it have any complaints bout it before i part with my 320. is it harder on diesel than the 320d etc. thinking im bending towards the 5 series black with tinted black windows with nice wheels.

Its all personal preference really. Some would regard a 3 series as a precursor to the 5 series. Others just prefer the sportier, younger image of the 3 series and would never consider the 5 as it has an older image.

I've always preferred the 5 myself even 10 years ago when most in there twenties would go for the 3 if they had the choice. (or the equivalent in any other manufacturer A6 over A4, E class over C class or even Camry over Avensis). I like the big car feel, the more luxurious seats and surrounding interior.

Try to test drive both. Much better than trying to decide based on written opinions.
