    Guys,

I was wondering can anyone suggest a good travel insurance company to cover a couple doing an around the world trip. Thailand and Vietnam for a month, OZ for the guts of a year and the USA for 6 weeks. All suggestions welcome.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Most of them do cover for up to a year. Just select Backpackers when getting a quote. Does anyone know if you can get travel insurance for over a year?

    Here's a few links.

Some travel insurance companies will cover you up to 24 months provided you meet their criteria.

Always check with the insurance provider before purchasing the policy and read the terms and conditions carefully.

Cheers AlkalineAcid. There is so many different types.

What sort of money would you need to be handing over?

Most of them offer the same type of benefits, I'd give them a quick call to find out what prices are available. Although telephone bookings sometimes incur additional charges.

Cheers guys. 340-360 sterling for two seems to be a common price.

Something to bear in mind - if you have private health insurance i.e. VHI or similar, you will have to start from scratch when you come back with waiting periods for claims etc. I'm doing a RTW at the moment and went with VHI global as I've had VHI for about 5 years now and didn't want to lose the service. When I come back I can just transfer back into normal health insurance. It is a bit steep at €950 for the year but I suppose it depends on your personal circumstances. You can also renew while abroad if you decide to stay away more than 1 year.
