Quick question about the arms.

I had a bit of a breakthrough the other day. I've only been playing six months but get out as often as I can. Up until now my arms have been moving my hips as opposed to vice versa. My entire swing was all arms and no body. The other day it finally dawned on me the accuracy and length that's to be had using the body to generate the swing and letting the arms follow the turn in the shoulders and the pivot in the hips. So here's my question. Is my swing dictated 100% by the body or should I be applying a certain amount of force with the arms and if so how much? I have had lessons but to be honest I feel there's a lot more he could have explained, a lot I've worked out through books, videos and practice.

That' a question that varies from player to player some people have different aspects that are more dominant.

whizbang has definitely sent you in the right direction with Ben Hogans book, In the book the topic of swing sequence is discussed and explained. this is important because it's not swing with body or swing with arms but rather swing with legs body arms etc in the right sequence. I recommend you pick it up too, it's a great book and it explains a lot.
