Brother bough a 00 2.0 turbo diesel with 187000 miles. The speedo clock will read 60 mph then drop to 20, go up to 80 then drop to zero.

I disconnected the wire plug at the gearbox ( 3 pin lead which i presume is 12V, earth and signal) and the speedo is still doing the same.

So im thinking theres a bad earth on the lead or the cluster is shagged. anyone got any definitive info on this? is this a common problem?

    marly
