...on my Peugeot 407 SW 1.6d estate. Last year, we changed out the can-shaped object, which is some kind of exhaust gas cleaner. I don't know it's exact name. Now this sensor warning is back. I have had problems with oil fumes in the cabin, traced to a leaky injector (worn copper seal). Anyone got any idea on this?

The famous "depollution system faulty" message is really a engine lamp.
The problem could be anything from a faulty/blocked egr valve to low fuel pressure.

You need to get a diagnostic check to find out whats flagging this fault.

I'm guessing the can-shaped object that was replaced was your diesel
    particle filter.

That's it. A can about the size of a catering-size coffee can. expensive and a pig to fit...I have had a diagnostic done before (50 lids a pop!) and a sensor was replaced and now the message is back on again. I'm thinking that it's oil has got in somewhere but I'm not at all familiar with the systems on the car.

The ony way your going to find out where the problem is to get a
diagnostic check done....Most good independent garages have good level diagnostic equipment which work fine on 407's.
Post up the P-codes and maybe we can get ot the bottom of the problem..:)
