    Can this be done?
I know it is easy to listen in (streaming) but what about recording (and setting to record) if all you have is a PC and an internet connection?

I don't mean podcasts -that is hit and miss.

I have just tried tunein.com but I can't find any option for saving to the hard drive.

I have also looked at RealPlayer but it seems to require a CD to burn to (not sure what the monthly subscription allows but I am looking for something free or a once off payment) and I can't see anything like presetting to record either.

Audacity can certainly do this but it may also depend on your sound card too.
I am not aware of any way to set audacity to record at a particular time. Audacity can output in mp3 format too.

Funnily enough I had been wondering recently if anyone recorded radio programmes anymore.

I haven't looked into this, but it has scheduled recording option?

Screamer Radio has a recording function. Just hit the button.

Screamer Radio is free, available as installer or portable, suit yourself. ;)

Use AHK or the like to write a really basic script to click that button at a certain time? Ghetto; but it will get it done.

that's interesting but I have to control my inclination for directionless meanderings on the computer-I can sense a wasted hour or two ahead if I follow that (possibly sensible) advice....

ScreamerMenu is an add-on that will take care of it. Copy the executable file into the same folder. Start Screamer Radio and then ScreamerMenu. Go to the Record tab and create your schedule. Enter the station's stream url or use the active station, set time and date for RecStart (give it a few seconds at the start to load/buffer the station) and click Add, set RecStop and click Add, choose from Once, Daily, Weekly or Monthly.

    Tested with version 0.4.4 Portable
