1Do you want to install windows 7 alongside it?
    or
2Do you just want to install windows 7 on it?

Either option is possible, option easy than option 1, but option one is still doable.
The hardware should be fine to run win 7.

If you want both then in ubuntu use gparted to shrink the partition to make space available for W7.

Install W7 to the free space. Then in W7 download EasyBCD and use it to add Ubuntu to the W7 boot menu.

The simplest way to install dual boot is:

    1. Install W7 and make the partition's layout in there. Install W7 to one of the partition using NTFS/WINFS.
    2. Install Ubuntu as the second system on the other partition - i advice to use Ext3.
If you have any questions about it, just send me a PM.

Ya I'd advise if your going to dual boot install windows 7 first then Ubuntu and let GRUB handle the boot options..

You can download virtual box in Ubuntu either and install windows as a virtual OS the same goes for virtual box in windows and install ubuntu inside windows as a virtual OS..

Or you can also use WUBI which basically installs Ubuntu inside of windows like a program but gives an option to boot into either at startup like it was installed on its own partitionl however you can remove it in windows if you wish like any program in control panel. The only downside of this way and is that you will now be able to see the rest of the hard drive when in Ubuntu..

Oh and you should consider whether the laptop meets the min specs to run win 7 but you shouldn't have a problem if it's new more or likely it will be fine . Also make sure that there are drivers avaible for the model for windows before you insall..Also just using windows would be ok too If you didn't need/want the dual boot..
