I threw a new battery into the megane (02 petrol 1.4) the other day. I entered the code for the radio and it beeped, then "CODE" came up on the display and it's been like that since. It's the right code I used as I have had to use it a few times, and even if it was wrong, I only entered it once.
I cannot do a thing with it while it's like this. I am shut out of everything. Can't even re-enter the code.

    Has anyone come across this?

As KC said, it could be the wrong code you have in the manual, but it will allow you to enter it again, you just need to wait a while. Had the same issue on a Vel Satis a few weeks back.

I got caught out like this a couple of years ago with a Renault Scenic.
I got the codes necessary here. www.ecoustics.com
They were very helpful and there are a few differences in entering codes for different models that I wasn't aware of.
Worth leaving it on for the half hour as suggested by @Owen .

I now write my radio code in indelible marker on the back of my battery...

I won't get a chance to get the codes till Monday. Working all weekend. I'll throw them up then cheers.
The code I was using was definitely working up to last week. Sure I put it in about 4 times last week when the battery was on the way out!

Thanks for this. Leaving the radio powered on for 20 minutes or so times out the lock.

    Cheers Boards.
