Vintage Campagnolo/Mavic Wheels - SWAP (or sell)

    Hi all,

    New boards.ie start for me!

I have a set of perfect Campagnolo Record 28 hole small flange hubs on GP4 Tubs laced with stainless double-butted spokes. These are from an 1980 Ti Raleigh and spaced to take a 5/6 speed block.

My preference is to swap or buy large flange campag hubs on clinchers. I want to preserve the look of the bike..but not be stuck on the side of the road with expensive punctures!

Also trying to match a 172.5 left hand crank for a Campagnolo Record chainset (or vice versa for a 170!)

Any thoughts, any interest, anything in the garage?

    Here goes on boards.ie!

    Brendan

    Hi there,
I could do with these. My current front wheel is on the way out, the back soon to follow!!! I've a 7 speed rear at the minute, no STI etc so it shouldn't be a problem.

Don't have anything you are looking for though. Unless you want a pair of mountain bike wheels.

Oh yeah, you'll have to post a picture of the Raleigh!!!

Hi Brendan - I have a campagnolo record 10 speed 172.5mm, an alloy square taper BB version.

Is it of any interest to you?

    Thanks folks,

Following your posts and pm's I spent the evening cleaning and polishing. Photo's soon!

Thanks for the offer l'etape, either you have what I already have or that's a newer LH crank? Looking for a 1980's LH crank.

Studiorat when you see the pics, you can see if you're interested.

Brendan - yes, unfortunately my crank is 10 speed and too new for you.

    Hey Bren,
Just noticed the GP4's are tubs, I'd forgot about that! Sorry, the bike gets too much use for that carry on. So I'm out...

They'll look great on something I'm sure.

    No problem Studiorat,

I may have a set of Vintage Campagnolo C-Record hubs on 36hole Mavic Open Pro clinchers. Still hoping for high flanges in the meantime!

    Hi Studiorat,

Here's the photo of the TI Raleigh with the wheels. Can also post the photo of the clincher rims.

Wow! That's a stunner. Amazing condition. Is that the original fork? I thought TI fork's were red? How come you want to put Hi-flange hubs on it those are super.

    Thanks Happytramp...and well spotted!

Yes, the fork should be red, or in some cases half red half chrome. A mistake was made during the respray (before I got it), but it looks great nonetheless.

The reason for replacing the wheels are the tubs. I use the bike at sportives and would be in deadly fear of a puncture. I was going to rebuild them on 28h clinchers but can't find any from that era.

The reason for large flanges (if they are out there) is they look great and I already have another set of record low flanges with clinchers on a '82 Bianchi. I'm willing to part with a set of mid 80's C-record on Open 4 clinchers if necessary otherwise I'm possibly going to build another set of 32h record low flange on MA40's.

Keep an eye out for those large flanges (even if not campag). Of course what I should really be doing is some training!!

Sorry for going off topic Brendan but that bike is absolutely beautiful. That TI Raleigh bike would be my dream retro build....
Would love an excuse to offer asking for the wheels but am under threat of castration at home if any more bike related paraphenalia appear :o

    Fair play and great minds..

I have them on my watch list and asked that very question. He reckoned £50 to post to Ireland! Ugh
