So anyway, my current m4's falling apart

    (I suspect it's actually an Ak in an m4 shell ;) )
so I was wondering what should I get next?

    I'm looking for:

    M4/M4A1 with RIS (MUST)
    Battery located in Stock (MUST)
    9.6v Battery
    Blowback (optional)
    Preferably systema, (PTW optional)
    MUST NOT BE CQB VERSION
    Note: No LIPO please, (BOOM)

Basically I'm wondering what your dream m4 would be?

    My current: (pictured below)
(Amazing gun, great starter, lasted 2 years)

M15A4 RIS Carbine With Crane Stock (AR004M-2-X) M15A4_RIS_Carbin_4d8c0e83ac21d_200x200.jpg

So as you can see, I have a style of m4, (Crane stock & RIS is a Must)

I seen a nice one in MIA
    http://www.mainirishairsoft.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=967

but I'm presuming it would be a nightmare to upgrade

As for budget, the sky's the limit (although try to keep it under €800)

    Thanks everyone, ;)

Anyway, I'm a picky person, and would prefer one with this thingy (dunno name) so if you see anything, lemme know ;)

that part you have circled in that picture is called a delta ring, as for my dream M4, I'd have to say the HK 416, not an M4 but based on the same platform. Right now I have a Raider with a load of custom parts on it which looks awesome and im very happy with it :)

I'll echo Thermo on this and say the VFC M4's are sound, and really well priced for higher end aegs. In the 416 range, you can't go wrong with a Top Tech T418

    Pretty looking too:

The VFC 416s are better beasts then the G&G Top Techs. Internally and externally.

A quality M4, go for either VFC or G&P.

I've wanted an 416 for ages and when i found out toptech made them i was so happy, until i started reading about them, they seem to have a lot of problems. many people seem to think the VFC ones are far better, so might look into them at some stage, never owned a VFC AEG.

how is that GL attached to the bottom of that?

The Grenade launcher is mounted using the standard mounting - there is no lower portion of the RIS kit. On delta ring systems, its the only mount to use as otherwise the launcher acts as a lever and can very easily remove the bottom section of your rail kit.

I have to echo Thermo - my dream M4 is my new MRP-L; I've it tarted up and am loving it. Although, even now...I still have a soft spot for the G&G LR300 long version

that's interesting so that means you could put a battery in the front (if it's front wired and the GL is removed obviously) due to the RIS being two halves?

In theory yeah, but the batterys in the stock as far as I know,

figured as much but just interesting to see a RIS with the potential. good alternative to those carbine owners who done want to go re wiring their gearboxes.

Most (all?) RIS that attach using the delta ring from the original hand guard are like that.

It looks like a railed version so it's just 20mm clamps. There's covers on the rails which threw me off for a second.

    My dream m4:

Someone had to do it... :o

most airsoft would use a ris but this method is actually the original and still the most used for m203 this picture shows how it is connected more clearly http://www.modelguns.co.uk/images/m4mm203c.jpg.

I prefer this method myself as it does not site as low and is more realistic but that is me http://pub.mahawarman.net/rizal/101th%20M4.JPG . It is only the new models in recent years which have started to used the ris http://olive-drab.com/images/grenade_launcher_m320_01_700.jpg

I'll not bother with the rest of the thread but I will say this; the above bit is misinformed rubbish. Everyone has heard the 'horror' stories, but LiPo batteries have been used for years in other hobbies without much hitch, and indeed with airsoft as well; for however many airsofters have at least one LiPo battery in their collection, how many have had bad experiences? I would wager that number is quite small indeed.

Also, saying no LiPo means what exactly? You can plug an 8.4v in just as easily as a LiPo once they both have connector-type compatibility with the gun in question. So you don't want a LiPo battery? No problem, just get an NiMh one. Job done without restricting your choice of gun.

yes their is a rail on the side, the standard m3 ris ( orginal ) is made up of a 3 sided section ( top left and right ) and a separate lower section

Aaaaah that explains it, I'm used to the all-in-one rail sets like on the 416. Well now I feel silly, but that's cool, I didn't know it existed, it's pretty class. I assume it's just a sturdier way to attach it than using the rails?

If someone could build the m4 SOPMOD that the SAS had in the first Modern Warfare that'd be my dream m4. IR laser and all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

the m203 came before the ris so the standard ris is designed to allow the m203

the cod m4 is easy to make, standard M4, cut the front sight off or replace the block with a low profile one and a peq2

Aren't those PEQ2s that actually have the lasers really hard to get?

I found one after 8 seconds of googling, so no.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

non functioning ones are cheap and picking up a cheap laser pointer is easy enough, making it easier just to make one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 863 ✭✭✭MonkeyGuy

An IR laser though, are they even legal?

Not for airsoft because they would be outside the 630-680nm wavelength and over 5mW.

Edit: Why would you even want one you can't see it with the naked eye?

Well when I think of the word "dream" I think of what may seem unlikely or even possible. I'd like to have all the NVGs and UAVs and what-have-you if it was a "dream" scenario.

Sorry if I've gone somewhat tangental to the OPs original intent.

Oh, in that case I'd like a legally held and unrestricted real one with an unlimited supply of M885A1 ammo.

Well I think that's perhaps a little unnecessary...

When I say "dream" I mean pretend you have €5000. What m4 would you get? (airsoft) what attachments? etc

I'm talking about systema ptws, not real guns ;)

On a side note, what do you guys think of KWA M4 SIR, found here?
    http://www.mainirishairsoft.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=716

I might get it, what do yous recommend?

dream aeg does not always mean it has to be expensive :)
