Is anyone else who has works in childcare not completely pissed off that level 6 is needed to avail of the ECCE scheme?

Does experience not count for anything?

Also I don't get that its basically a repeat of the CACHE level 3 diploma(actually probably not as detailed).

How can the cache diploma which took 2 years to complete sit alongside the old ncva level 2 on the national framework of qualifIcations as Fetac level 5?

Level 6 is not currently a requirement for ecce scheme. There was talk of it being required when scheme was first announced but eypu have rolled back on that.
Afaik cache 3 is equivalent to FETAC 5.5 ... I think if u check with the college u did the cache diploma I they will tell u the fFETAC equivalent ... Once it's at least level 5 it's ok for ecce. Your local city/county Childcare should be able to advise u or check directly with the early years policy unit ...
