Does the Gardai's new ANPR system detect number of disqualified driver?

Quandary here - my brother was banned for driving a year ago and got a two year ban. It was a stupid thing to do and he knows it. He had never been in trouble before. His problem is that his wife is 8 and a half months pregnant and about to give birth any day. He would be prepared to drive her to hospital if she suddenly went into labour. He is just worried about this new automatic number plate recognition system that the guards have. He hasn't changed his car (obviously) since his ban, do the guards' system have a list of numbers of cars whose drivers have been banned? I know they have a list of cars owned by persistent offenders but this ban was the only time he was ever in trouble. And would it be too cumbersome to stop every car if they are in the system as a lot of people would sell their cars on if banned? I have told him not to even consider it but it is their first child and he is prepared to take the risk. Thanks in advance.

Is the car in your brother's name?

If yes then it will certainly flag up on ANPR.

Is he not entitled to look for his licence back after a year?

Really not a good idea there. Why not have a relative/neighbour/taxi take them to the hospital? Driving your car on a two year ban, no matter how sorry you are will land you in all kinds of trouble.

No but helping your brother out and his pregnant sister in law certainly is...

Look, its clearly against the law. Asking for advice on how to get around the law, or on the probability of getting caught is just not on.
