Removing pavement splashes from trousers

    Hi,

Hoping someone can advise on this. I have some cream cotton trousers which have several splashes from pavement and roads in the recent wet weather. I expect there must be some oil or similar from the dirt on the pavement, as the splashes have survived 3 washes :
40 degree normal with bio detergent
60 degree with bio detergent (no shrinkage....)
40 degree after a 4 hour soak in vanish oxi action gel, with oxi action gel added to the wash.

Any more suggestions? The last wash did help a little, but the splashes are still noticeable.

Also, anyone help with an old well dried in red wine stain on cream cotton trousers? Numerous washes etc, no progress. I'm thinking bleach solution at this point given that they are en route to becoming DIY wear!

    Thanks in advance,
    Fm

Sounds like the stains may be 'washed in' at this stage! How about dyeing the trousers? Otherwise, Good Housekeeping Institute suggests using Ace Stain Remover or Dr Beckmann in Wash Remover, and for cotton fabrics they also suggest rubbing washing up liquid into the stain before machine washing.:)
