Hearing aid costs.

I have had a hearing test done and have been prescribed an aid for each ear...at 1800 euros per ear.

I was wondering if, like dental work, it might be cheaper to get them on the continent ? Also, do prices here in Ireland differ much, i.e. is it worth trying a few different places ?

    Thanks.

Shop around. I was also quoted big money for hearing aids but was turned off the company as they came across as too 'sales-like' - marketing their higher priced aids, rather than other ones that would have suited me fine. I ended up going to another hearing aid specialist who worked for himself and they cost half the price.

    Hi Jeeney,

Would you care to share your audiologists contact details? Perhaps pm me the details? I am having a hard time finding someone that is not too pushy with their product for my dad....

My sister also had that problem with pushy audiologists but she shopped around and went with Specsavers and is very pleased with them. A friend of mine also went with them and praised them highly. Both of them have age-related deafness.
