Does anyone else think that Carey Mulligan, in films, constantly looks as if she's about to break into tears?!

Drive and Shame for example, the whole time my head was screaming "Either cry or cheer up FFS!" Sometimes she did cry in fairness, but even in the happier scenes she looked on the verge of tears.

Rose Byrne always looks sad, too.

Can't understand the attraction with Carey Mulligan be it as an actor or looks-wise.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who finds her sexy/attractive hasn't seen enough women in their lifetime.

Hi I'm Kirsten Stewart and I have a permanent look of "did I leave the iron on?" on my face.

To be fair, not a lot to smile about in either role!

I wasnt aware she was considered sexy/attractive by anyone... ever?!

I don't think her parts are based on her looks.

Good actress though.... but nothing close to a 'looker'

You can add Claire Danes into the "I can't act so I'll just look heartbroken all the time" club.

    It seems that:

Not conventionally good-looking + constantly looking on the verge of tears = excellent "character" actress in Hollywoodland.

I'd agree with that, but the permanent verge of tears, even during the happy scene in Drive where they drive down the storm drain, she looks as if she's about to weep with joy!

I'd say she's cute, maybe not sexy, but long hair suits her better (see the episode of Doctor Who, "Blink," that she was in).

^^ I guess the trick to never aging is to limit use of the facial muscles.
