Rent Allowance Review

I recieved my letter yesterday (23rdFeb) stating that the rent allowance review form had to be in completed within 2 weeks from the date the letter was sent which said the 10th(so this meant it was to be in the 24th) it gave me 1 day to to negotiate my rent and get the form filled in, i rent my house through a letting agency, so i dont really have much contact with my landlord.

My rent is currently 850.00 per month and i have been told the new limit for me, my partner and my 4 children is 675.00 per month( There are no houses where i live for that price)as i would need a 4 bedroom house due to having 3 boys and 1 girl.

I am currently ok paying thetop up balance of my rent on top of the rent allowance i recieve without being on the breadline,

I approached the letting agency yesterday who said the landlord would not reduce the rent as they have been hit with charges too.

Now i dont know what is going to happen couldnt sleep last night with worry that we will end up on the street.

Does anyone what will happen now if you cannot get a reduction on your rent, and you cant find a house within the new limit.:confused::confused::confused:

Did that 1 year ago was told there were 10,000 waiting on the list before me thanks for the advice though.

Was just keeping head above water, was not letting the recession get me down to much, even though none of us are working, hubby in the construction industry.

Last night was the first time i started to worry, i always said to him if i dont worry then you dont, but i am fretting now.

If it was just us then i wouldnt care what happens but i have 4 kids to worry about.

 4 Bed house my hole!

A 3 bed would do you fine, Bunk beds & a single in one bedroom for the 3 boys, box room for the Girl & a bedroom for yourself and the misses.

Do you really think the state should pay for you to live how you feel you should........

If you want more pay the difference or move to an area that would cover your requirements, afterall you have no need to stay were you are as your not working and could move anywhere to accomadate the standard of house you WANT.

    WHAT A JOKE.....

Sleepless night, try working everyday & still have hassle trying to meet your bills without any outside help!

    hang in there.

tell the RA officer that you can not get a decrease and that you will and your family will be on the streets if you get your rent cut any more.

they are trying to get landlords as a whole to decrease there rents.. and it aint working

As I'm a landlord and this same situation affects me too - how do you know this?

Excuse me i am the missis and we did work up until 2 years ago BOTH OF US and never asked the state for a penny.

Reality is 3 kids as big as mine, teenagers wont fit in a bedroom,

I dont know what difficulties you have but no need to post that kind of comment on my thread.

I feel for the landlords too its a disgrace we have to ask them for a reduction and embarrrassing especially as they have been hit with charges too.

Lots of threads about rent allowance etc and views from both sides - tenants and landlords. However moving to a cheaper place is not always an option. Since the reductions have been announced there has been a huge increase in 'no rent allowance accepted' on Daft.

I looked at a few apartments (2 bed) and they are around 850. Now before you say move somewhere cheaper - these apartments look into the traveller camp near Darndale! Hardly an upmarket rental yet they have 'no rent allowance accepted' on them.
