Was already sickened watching dispatches about the ticket selling scandal but thats for another thread. This came on afterwards. Anyone watch it on Channel 4? Absolutely ****ing disgusting stuff. Programme was about kids freestyle dance competitions. All these mothers dressing their kids up and pushing them to extremes.

Nine year olds getting fake spray tans since they were three.
    £900 costumes
Passing out from exhaustion after dance routines and saying the kid is just out of breath
Pushing harder and stretching kids limbs to the point of the kid complaining of pain
Admitting the kid strangely always seems 'unwell' before a competition. 'Thats life' even though a doctor said it was stress. How would a 9 year old have stress asked the parent. Cause your ****ing abusing it thats how.
Two of the kids encountered injuries leading up to a major competition, one with an ankle and another back. Doctors advised rest, parents, im no doctor but it seems ok, go ahead and dance.

The thing I noticed was how unhappy most of the kids seemed. I know kids dance classes are good for fitness and socailising but this was extreme. The kids were pushing others out of the way on the dancefloor to get the jughes attention. The parents were obsessed with it. Often on message boards all the time about the next competition and the kids said they never bothered with the online dance community.
Ive seen my fair share of sick stuff and Im not really that bothered by most things but this really sickened me how the parents were forcing kids to perform what I seen as the parents childhood they never had. ****in disgusting.

Passing out? They'd want to man up. No pain, no gain. The kids are just lazy. I blame Playstations.

X 1,000.......I always let my girls indulge in extra curriculur activities but, fun things they would enjoy and would enhance their childhood, not rob them of it!!

These kids are gonna grow up so angry at their lost childhood!!

  • These pagent dancing competitons are just the pits the parents are normally hedious and are living their dreams through their offspring . What kid of two and younger wants to do this **** ?

I went to one of these dance shows in Dublin because my friend's kid was entering as a beginner (no tans, no glitzy costumes ect)

I felt like I'd entered a world of madness and I felt like the only normal person in the room.
I saw mothers spray tanning toddlers.
I saw the children acting violent towards each other and various members of dance schools shouting obscenities towards each other.
Kids drinking red bull.. mothers screaming at children coming off the floor because 'they didn't do good enough'
AND THIS WAS THE NORM!? I was shocked but people were shocked that I was shocked.
The whole thing was just wrong and it's apparent that I'm not the only one thinking this. I was talking to the receptionist of the hotel (most of these 'competitions' are in hotels) who told me that a lot of venues are not willing to put up with the freestyle dance crowd. They never clean up after themselves and venues are left in a state.

The worst part of my whole experience?
I was outside smoking and heard grown women (Probably mothers) bitching and gossiping, saying outright vile things about other peoples children.

    It was disgusting.

The show on channel 4 just highlighted the sheer madness of freestyle dance.
I am a dancer, I've been doing ballet since I was 3 and I'm just glad my mother never considered entering me into the madness of freestyle dance.
