You're the first person I've ever seen to slag KC on Boards. I'm sure there are others who don't like him but he's not trying to be Foley, he was pretty successful down in Cork just being himself. Personally I don't care if the last hour is per-recorded, (why would you) I'm just thankful that there is a DJ on that I like if I'm ever out in the car that late. Talked to KC a few times on twitter too, so can say he comes across as a really nice guy! Followed me too!

I think he's pretty damn good. Always enjoy when he fills in a daytime show too.

KC is a lovely chap in person and a great radio jock and I'm also surprised to see anyone post here negatively about him... but there you go I guess - horses for courses as they say.

Oh and jjll, I wouldn't necessarily take the fact that he didn't read out your text as an indicator that he wasn't live. Maybe he was there and just didn't see it (as it was one among hundreds) or maybe your text was in a smartass tone (in which case, who can blame him?).

yeah he did the breakfast show for yrs on red fm we still miss that show down here.his nite show is very good after 12 he just plays anything and the chillout hour after that,anytime i emailed or text him he always replys.

KC is a class act IMO. Shines out brighter than some of the daytime line up.

Genuinely funny and easy to listen to. Plays good music too.

Someone asked him the last night was he there or pre recorded after midnight, he said " don't be daft i'm at home in bed listening to 2fms replays " and then did an exact time check ... he's live after 12.

Have you never text a radio station before and not being acknowledged ?

I was a fan of Donal and thought they might have a main stream playlist, thank God they don't.The music is way more accessible i'm hearing tracks i have never heard on radio with brilliant oldies.

Surprised to see anyone criticise KC...

Him leaving RED FM marked the beginning of the end for that station as a decent alternative to the Nationals for me. (Other factors would be moving Vic Barry to mornings and scaling back Stevie G, but that's a different thread). When him and Lenny were doing that show it was hands down the best breakfast show in the country.

I don't get the comparison between him and Foley at all. Foley's on air persona is an arrogant, loud, childish person. KC could not be further from this. Always comes across as being really sound and genuine.

I thought he was actually extended to 2am? Didn't know t'was pre-recorded, but to be honest it wouldn't bother me if it was. At that time of night if I'm listening in I don't want the DJ doing anything fancy. Just introduce the song, and that's it.

KC benefits from being able to just be himself on air, he isnt a format jock like you'd get on 98fm / q102 / fm104 / spin and this is the reason why people like him, stick him into a rigid format of 20 second long links, selling the station constanntly and he would be just like the rest of the dj's on the aforementioned stations. In his current gig he comes across as a regular guy not trying to bs people and its not lost on people. The individuality he possesses , fits in with today fm's liberal style but remember he is indulged much like rick o shea is indulged on 2fm, personally I wouldnt be mad about his voice or music choices but good luck to him.
