Thinking of getting a PTO washer, the Hawk 700.

With a gearbox is approx €1200 + VAT
Without a gearbox is approx €800 + VAT

Anyone have any experience of these and whether or not to go with gearbox option.

He man selling them said that 99% of the washers they sell do not have a gearbox.

I would be using either a TS115 or a Ford 5000 to power the washer.

I have one without the gearbox and similar arrrangment for driving it.
MF35 which needs a high engine rev to get the pressure and flow up to max. and a MF5455 which has 1000rpm pto and works it at little over engine tick over.

I've often wondered though which tractor uses less diesel when washing.

A bit late responding to this but ended up buying the Hawk 700 with no gearbox.

Have to say its an excellent job. Great purchase.

Mines a red star diesel power washer. What's the fumes like with the tractor power washer and does it use much diesel. Find the heat a great job

I wash them on the concrete but I am then able to powerwash the dirt into the field as there is one just next to it.

Use one of the slatted tanks with tractor slats as a wash down bay during the summer, but wouldn't mind somewhere for the winter.
Have thought about using old single slats to make one, basically put 2 drains running into a tank then make a level concrete pad over the top of the drains and lay the slats across so that the the dirt and water can flow into either drain then onto tank

Why would a dairy farmer want a wash bay? The most wouldn't bother with a grease gun so their hardly gona wash a tractor :P :P

The only reason I'd like a wash bay is that there's not point trying to wash a yoke on a clay surface, all you end up doing is covering whatever your washing and yourself in a pile of muck....

Any makes to avoid and what would you expect to pay for a decent one?

Got a 4000psi Hawk with reel, 100ft hose, quick attach lance with turbo nozzle for €1000 from Multi Wash Laois, at the Ploughing. Best price I could get was there. Hawk are a very good make. Am very happy with it.
