I'm thinking of getting a guidance system for fertilizer spreading, spraying etc. Found this one from the UK which seems pretty reasonable www.tractorgps.co.uk
Anyone on here use one of these or know of anyone that uses them? Any info appreciated

Trimble EZ250 is a base model, list price 1500 euro but can be got a bit cheaper

    http://www.trimble.com/agriculture/

Topcon also do similar for 1800 with better reception ie more satellite reception and Patchwork in between in price afaik.

I am seriously looking at the Trimble but all are good base models and fairly simple to use

Is this GPS from satconuk? 20 0r 30 feet would be totally unacceptable for farming purposes. The one I have a link for there is costing roughly 500euro which is a major difference to the price of the Trimble or Topcon systems. I would just like to know of anyone that has or has heard of this system before I take the plunge!!

They have the capability's to shoot the eye out of a fly with these things but that is for military use only.
The one you are looking for is for commercial use as you know, they are great yield mapping spreading fertilizer and spraying save money on all these things.
I don't have one and don't need one but m8 has one for his combine which can then be transfered to his tractor it steers the machine and when spreading fertilizer matches the amount to the yield in any spot in the field he say's it's a great job.

Presume you mean yield mapping? does he use rtk or vrs guidance? variable rate spreading is a great job with variable seed rating, worked on prototype for/with sumo last year but you need a soil map drawn up iirc

Not to sure but from what he says as in just talking I think it's VRS twood be over my head but if I was working with it for a while might just manage to use it he did a coarse on it.

Check the farmers Journal from last Thursday. Dairy farmer has an EZ-250 and has another external antenna to mount outside to increase accuracy, although he said he's not put it on yet because he fears the trees will take it off!

The Trimble is a hell of a lot dearer than the Tractorgps.co.uk. I wounder is there any program you could download to an ipad and use that as the tractor gps in fields?

Hell of a lot more accurate too though based on the reading. Tractor GPS is " normally within a metre" which means it's only really any use for Fert spreading, even then you have a 2M sway in that you could end up overlapping by 1M or missing by 1M. Plenty of fellas could get that normally, don't think it's worth the £500. If your going for something like that you may aswell hold off and buy the proper thing from the start, imo.
