Close calls on the 140

Just on way home from college on the 140 and I've nearly witnessed 3 accidents, 2 involving this bus and another with a car&bike.

First one was bend going round Parnell St to outside Rotunda - bus driver nearly rammed a well lit cyclist. The guy didn't see it but he was about a foot away from getting the front of the bus into his rear wheel. He was cycling close to LHS of middle lane so I wonder is it better to cycle right in the middle of a lane?

Right after this as we were pulling in to stop bus driver starts flashing car pulled up in bus lane. Car moves off and nearly takes a Dublin bike cyclist out of it.

Finally, on Phibsboro road home driver overtakes cyclist (no cycle lane available and cyclist is in really close to kerb) with about 6" to spare for poor cyclist. We hit stopped traffic 50m later.

Just a few examples of the dangers cyclists face.

Kind of reminds of this. Go to 23 secs where the action is.

Doesn't take very well to cyclists that driver.

I get passed by buses with less than a foot to spare all the time. I do tend to hug the kerb by instinct after getting honked at a million times. When I fear for my safety I take the lane... altho sometimes taxi drivers will pass close by anyway. Just to be asshats? idk.

Worst thing is almost getting squished by a bus that passed you just to pull into a bus stop a few yards ahead. Or that tries to pass you on a small curve only to nearly hit you with its backside.

I have a habit of shouting HEY whenever I'm passed too close, but of course the drivers can't hear me...

Report it to Dublin Bus. customer.comment@dublinbus.ie and/or to the admin at Harristown garage: tom.Keon@dublinbus.ie

Ive had a run in with the 140 on the N2, Close pass and brake. I pursued it with the Gardai and Dublin Bus and the driver was (apparently) given a talking to, but the CCTV was broken at the time, so I couldnt pursue it further. I wish I had as another f*cker in a 40 tried the same trick and the response I got second time was less than satisfactory.

This happens to be so regularly... what am I gonna do, report every bus on the road? ha. I'll just take up more of the lane from now on and then see what happens.

Also to be fair a lot of them do this at really slow speeds, like just coming out of junctions or whatever. in the city centre

I do that too, but more a stream of invective than hey or even an understandable sentence.
