Can anyone recommend a good suit tailor in Dublin?

I already have the suit so the likes of Louis Copeland won't work...

I presume you're looking to have a suit altered so you're looking for an alterations tailor? In that case try Des Byrne at the bottom of Grafton St. (Trinity College end, upstairs)

Great thanks, have you used him before?

The reason I specified 'Suit' tailor was because I want someone who knows what they're doing and can advise me on how the suit should look.

I'm not looking for a general tailor who will only do what I ask, whether right or wrng.

I have not used him myself. Can you state what exactly you'd like done with the suit? I have spent some time around men's tailors and although most will take in a suit for alterations that they have not made themselves, there is certain work that is not economical for an off-the-peg suit.

For instance a tailor I know in Galway showed me a Remus Uomo suit that he repaired, the suit was 100% polyester and the repairs were a third of the cost of the garment. He knew that the repair would not last and that the material did not justify the work but he couldn't get that across to the guy who owned the suit.

What I want done is very basic (I think):

    - Trousers taken in by one inch approx in the waist
    - Trousers lengthened by one inch
    - Blazer taken in one inch

The suit fits pretty well right now, I'm essentially just making it more fitted and the trousers slightly longer.

I guess I want to make sure that's what I should do...don't want it to look too fitted or wrong in any other way.

Sorry to butt in, but would anyone know just how much a suit jacket could be taken in? Would 6/7 inches be too much?

I'd say the absolute max you could get away with without ruining the lines on the rest of the jacket is 3 inches and even then it would depend on the cut...
