Check Skyscanner and Emirates will probably be the cheapest to Bangkok via Dubai or else Etihad via Abu Dhabi. Flying through the UK will cost more but is a good option if you want a direct 12hr flight. You can sometimes get good deals also with Taiwanese based China Airlines routing through Amsterdam.

+1 the above, try Etihad or Emirates via Abu Dhabi or Dubai, may be worth stopping off for a night or 2 in Abu Dhabi or Dubai on the way there or on the way back for something diffenent.

The thing I found with Etihad was that even though they were the cheapest, you would end up with ridiculous 10 hour stop overs etc

To Thailand?,at most the stopover is only 2.5 hours.

It depends, I had a 1hr 10mins stop over with them, but I have seen really long stopovers advertised of up to 10 - 12 hrs as indicated. They are usually selling these long stopover flights as the cheapest nowadays. Could be ok if it was a bit longer to allow a brief tour of Abu Dhabi before flying on again, however that will cost more then than the quicker flight which totally defeats the point in the first place.
