    Hi

My father has been a sole trader for a number of years now, he did a lot of manual work, but due to his age, he is no longer able to continue with it, he is really suffering with arthritis, and the manual work really impairs his mobility. Coupled with this (Along with many others) his business has suffered in recent years, gross pay for 2011 was 10,000 euros

He hasnt worked at all this year, what does he have to do to wind up his business offically?
Whats forms does he need to complete?

I presume he still need to fill in a tax return for 2011, but what other forms if any?

Would he be entitled to sign on, from unemployment benefit/Disability Benefit

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi

Your father needs to do a set of accounts to cessation of the business. This can be up until the last sale that he made. Complete a tax return based on these accounts taking into account the cessation rules and then shut down your income tax and self assessment registration.

The unemployment/disability benefit would presumably be means tested by the department of social protection.

    Hope this helps
