    Hi,
My motor tax disc hasn't arrived in the post seven weeks after I paid for it. I tried ringing the motor tax office but can't get a human being on the phone. I am just getting the automated voice system which makes me want to set fire to my own or someone else's house. Is there anyway I can inform them that my disc didn't arrive or get to speak to a human over the phone? Has anyone any experience with this?
    Thank you for your time

If your disc or VRC does not arrive, or you have any other queries about your transaction, please call the Online Motor Tax helpline at 1890 411 412, or email motortax@dttas.ie, quoting the transaction reference number shown on the payment confirmation page.
Not really any other option there...

I've sent my email. Hopefully that works. Thanks.

They really do have the single most annoying phone answer system I have ever encounter. It must be one of the number one causes of phone related rage deaths in Ireland today.

Just ring on that phone. Automated system then will start to offer options and first option will be " if you know the person you wish to speak please say name now" then just mumble (do not say name clearly) any name that comes in mind so the system does not understand clearly. then the system will say "I'm sorry, did you just said John ....". All you have to do now is say YES loud and clearly and system will tranfer to that person. Ask the question and you'll be transfered to Information desk. Then ask your question and from there they are allways very helpful .:D This is the way I do all the time and it work so far. The names I tried were John Conroy, Frank Keane and Santa Claus. :pac:

Same thing happened to me, payed for the motor tax disc online and haven't received it. It's been 3 months now. Sending the email doesn't help any more than calling and listening to the robot. I just got a generic email back with generic Q&A's, and none describe my problem. Hopefully I won't be considered liable if stopped by Gardai.

Did you make sure your address on motortax.ie is correct? In a lot of cases the registered address they have on their system which they issue the tax disc to is incorrect or an old address. If you received the last disc for the same car to the correct address then it might be something at their end or it got lost in the post.

If your address checks out as been correct then ring your local motor tax office who might be able to help.

Bit of a pain having to go to the Garda station but if all else fails:

Once its actually taxed, would there be many guards that would summons you for not displaying it even if it was not out of road tax for months. They would use their mobile app.
"Your tax disc isnt displayed sir but i can see its taxed for the full year"
"sorry my 15 year old cleaned car he must of not put it back"
Oh well sorry but ill have to summons you. Has anybody here actually been summonsed or fined for not displaying the tax disc despite having the car taxed?
