New Silicon Lenses

    Hi!
I have been wearing monthly contact lenses for almost 20 years (Torics now).
Recently I have found that my eyes get red/tired more quickly, and I decided with my next appointment to try some of the newer comfort lenses.
The Specsavers optician ordered a pair of Comfilcon Coopervision lenses for me to try.
I have worn them for 2 days so far and definitely find them more comfortable for longer.
But this morning when I put them in, its is like they are dirty/smudged. I have taken them out three times, cleaned them, and they are fine for a few minutes, then go kind of smudgy again. I take them out and you can see kind of eyelash smudges on the lens. Its very strange!
Will be going back to Specsavers in a few days to report back on how I am getting on with them, but was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this?

The silicone hydrogel lenses are prone to more deposits. You may need to change the solution you are on to combat that. What solution are you using at the moment? Some are more suitable to the SiH lenses than others.
I wear those lenses and find them REALLY comfortable. They are also much better for your eyes for wearing over long periods. They allow much more oxygen into the eyes and allow them to "breathe" similar to without any lenses.

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the feedback. I have also found them very comfortable so far.
I am just using a saline solution from Tesco, so maybe I should try something more specialized. What would you recommend?

'I am just using a saline solution'

    That is the problem.

Saline is not a cleaning solution, it's basically just a salt water solution for rinsing. So what has been happening is that layers of oil have been building up on your lenses. Any contact lens solution will be better than saline but your Optometrist will tell you which one is most suitable for you.

Like foggles said saline is not a cleaning solution it's basically salt and water. Have a chat with your optometrist and they can recommend the best ones for you but some ones for SiH lenses inculde Synergy and Opti free.

Ha! To think I have been using that solution for almost 20 years!
I will see about getting something else when I go in for my appointment.
    Thanks for the info!
