Was there in April last year. Went to the Newcastle v Wolves match (great craic even as an Arsenal fan!) and you should definitely get the stadium tour! Shearers pub (built into St James Park) is a good spot to go drinking.

Back OT, I was in The Gate, which is basically like a shopping centre with a TGI Fridays and loads of pubs. It's dirt cheap (4 shots and a red bull for £5) and good craic. Tiger Tiger was another good spot. Supposed to be very good on Tuesday (Madam Koosdays I think it's called).

But, the best spot we went to IMO, was the club Digital. It's down the road from the metro station and we had great craic in there on the Saturday night. All of the people we met over there were sound out and contrary to popular belief, there is some nice birds over there!

Just so you can gauge it, there was myself and 4 of my friends (all lads between 20 & 23 at the time). Well worth a visit! But be sure to check out quayside too! Best asking the locals when you get there!

    Enjoy!

Toon fan, had quite a few nights out there. You really cant go too far wrong as long as your central. Collinwood street has a few nice clubs/pubs. the crows tends to move around too. You'll be in a place thats hopping and next thing its quiet!

Other than that Bigg market and newgate street area is worth a look. If you want to see the real hardcore spots go to Sam Jacks or Sinners!

Try and take in a stadium tour, its decent! Also the area around the Tyne bridge is nice! Shopping in the Metro centre if needed! Bus on Blackett street!

    Tourist trap.

Go across the road to The Strawberry for a real flavour of Newcastle.

And for the best Real Ale (proper beer) in the North of England,
the Newcastle Arms is only a 2 minute walk down the hill in St Andrew's street (Chinatown).
Often voted among the best pubs in Britain.

Will be in Newcastle next week. Was wondering if anyone could suggest a good pub to watch the racing from Cheltenham, preferably near the train station?
