How to avoid Emergency Tax?

Hi,

My daughter is hoping to get an intern placement for a few months soon. if she gets it, it will be a paid placement and her first income (she has a PRSI number) and I'm wondering if it is possible to avoid her going straight onto Emergency Tax ? Is it possible??

If its her very first employment she must complete a form 12A to be registered for taxation purposes. She would need to do it either a week or two before she starts or as soon as she starts. Once her information has been recorded in Revenue, a tax credit cert issues to her employer which allows them to tax her correctly.
