Entering Thailand without Exit ticket

Will be entering Bangkok via air, then travelling overland through SE Asia to Singapore & flying home from there.
Have just read that, in theory, I'm required to have proof of my ticket for exiting Thailand within the visa period. As I'll most likely be exiting by bus or train to Laos & cant seem to buy these tickets online, I wont have the required proof. Flights to Laos are too expensive.
According to various webites it is not always asked for but I dont want to run into any probs if it is, especially travelling alone.
    Anyone any experience of this?

you will have no problem entering bangkok without onward travel, your problem could be the airline in which you are departing from may ask you proof of onward travel or a visa if it's over the 30 days visa on arrival.

maybe try and get a 60 day visa or book a cheap air asia flight confirming that you will depart thailand witin the 30 days given.

    Hiya,

Flying from Dublin I've never been asked for proof of onward travel. However, when I was flying there from Jo'burg in South Africa they asked for proof and were very close to preventing me from boarding the flight. That was with Malaysian Airlines. I got around it by saying I had an overland bus ticket booked to Laos but I had to collect the tickets in Bangkok.

It's a risk, but not much of one if you're leaving from Dublin.

    Enjoy your travels.
