Heuston Station - Parking

    Hi,

I had a look around the internet and a quick browse through older posts on here and couldn't find what I was looking for.

I'll be going to Dublin on Monday and was wondering if anybody knows what the deal is with parking at Heuston Station. I've parked there before for a few days. But I collected the car in the afternoon.

This time I'll be leaving Dublin pretty late...Say 12am-ish. Is this allowed? Or is it locked down does anyone know?

    Would appreciate the help :)

The car park is actually 24 hrs ,its the access road up the side of the station that gets locked , but a word with the security guy should get you in

Thanks for the info' :) But going on the back of the earlier reply, I went ahead and booked a spot in Clerys last night. They claim 24/7 entrance and exit.

Could anyone tell me if the parking is right by the station - I.e. how long would it take to get from the car to the trains with luggage?

    Thanks

It depends on the platform, and if you have your tickets already. But no more than 5 minutes.

Two of the platforms are at the end of the station near the car park, the others are at the far end, near the main building. And the ticket office is the far side of the tracks, so a bit of a walk from the car park.

Oh - and can you prebook parking? Or should I be okay at 2pm on a Friday?

Not sure on either front, to be honest. I'm sure someone else here can help.

If you are travelling with someone, drop them at the (river side) side entrance to the station with the luggage.

Irish Rail stations are set up for Park By Text as well which is dead handy.

Can someone tell me what time does it actually close at? Have seen different times from different websites. Ranging from 11 to 12 O clock. Going to a soccer game in the Aviva and will probably leave the car here to be safe

Another question re. parking at Heuston. I understand that the cost for 24 hours is €8 and the hourly rate is €1.50. But what if you want to park for 26 hours? Can you stick in €11 and get a ticket to cover you for this period (€8 + €1.50 x 2)? Or is 24 hours the longest period available?

I think that may have gone up to €9 now.

You would need to check the nitty gritty for parking more than 24 hours.

I bit the bullet and just bought two days. There is no way to purchase, say, 26 hours. The Park by Text system seems grand in fairness, the fact that I could buy parking without creating an accounts is good.

You could have paid for the day and then topped up by the hour if i read it right.

My reading was that you can only extend by the same period you have paid, i.e.

    - if you pay for an hour, you can extend by an hour, if you pay for a day, you can extend by a day.

I guess I could have paid for 24 hours with one booking then created a new booking for two hours to commence at the expiration of the first booking. But, I don't want to take a chance that clampers get confused by two different bookings for the same car on the same day.

    Anyway, it's done!

Sorry to drag up an old thread, I need to do a pick up at Hueston Station in Dublin tomorrow, is parking still available there? How do I approach parking from southside (coming across by Tara St) Do I stay on left towards Inchicore or do I have to cross the bridge towards the Courts? Thanks

There's a few drop off spaces under the main roofed area in the station. If there is space available then you will be okay to park there for a few minutes, once you don't take the Mickey. There's a couple of spaces at the exit as well; they are immediately to the left and tend to be more likely to be free than under the roof. Otherwise, or if you have loads of time to kill, you can hit the car park instead.

Coming from Tara Street you just need to hit the quays and head straight up to Heuston. Stay straight after Guinness and once you drive into the station take a left immediately after you enter the Green gates and you can drive in there.

Thanks a mil, it's a while since I've been down there. When I pass Guinness do I veer towards Stephen's Hospital or how do I get into Hueston? I thought if I tried to cross over the Luas track would block me, do I veer to the right or left coming off Quays - I'm afraid I'd end up in Inchicore doing a u turn?

When you hit the lights after Guinness there's a lane that goes straight into Heuston; take it and you will be fine.
