ads placed on gumtree.ie appear all over the internet

    I have had people ringing me from seeing my ad on buyandsell.ie and donedeal.ie although the only place I have advertised was gumtree.ie. My phone number is all over the Google search now!
    What should I do? I am fuming and I would go legal if I knew the procedure.

    Have you contacted gumtree to see what they have to say?

    Not sure why you are getting upset? You placed an ad so therefore you are looking for people to contact you, you are meant to pay for both those sites so surely this is a result? Free advertising on multiple sites should only help you?

    i know its a bit late OP but i've an old spare prepay phone (with a divert to my own) that i use for selling stuff online, saves any such issues being a problem

    i'm not sure there's a lot you can do in this instance

    Thank you all for comments. I do know how advertising works and more is better. However, I don't like my phone number listed all over the place. gumtree does not show the number until you click the mouse over it. Thought it was secure enough but it seems it's leaking all over the place.
    Bottom line - it should be up to advertiser to take these decisions of copying ads and spreading all over Google. Bit more privacy would be nice. Now I have people ringing about my ads that are long gone and still listed on other sites etc.
    I did contact Gumtree with no avail. 3 days and no answer. Did contact Buyandsell as well. Will see what will they say. It's just frustrating.

    Same happened to me. It sounds grand, but when you mark it sold on gumtree.ie it wasn't marked sold on the other sites. Plus you're not able to as you dont have the password to.
