Monetizing blogging.

    Hello.
For some time I have wanted to start a monetized blogging account. As I am interested in so many different topics I thought it may be a good idea to perhaps create 2/3 accounts with perhaps 2/3 different hosting companies which might also help with income as I understand that revenue from this activity in most cases is extremely low.

Over the past few weeks I have done some research and read loads of stuff on various blogging forums and strangely I keep coming up with more questions that I need answeres to so I thought I'd post a few here.

Now for the first couple of questions:

    1. I was thinking I might avoid the obvious big hosts (Blogger and Wordpress) untill I find my feet a bit and start with say Tumblr or weebly etc?

    2. Similarly to monetize I might use the likes of Kontera, Pocketcents, Infolinks and Adbull. I have seen hundreds of cases where Adsense have closed peoples accounts for 'invalid click activity' where these people claim that it is a mistake for one reason or another. Curiously I haven't yet seen one report of another company doing that. Adsense do seem rather over zealous to me.

    3. If I put 'add to facebook/twitter links on my blog do I have to join facebook and/or twitter myself.

That should do for the moment. All thoughts are welcome.
    Thanks for reading.

I would advise having blogs that are about specialised topics - that means 2-3 (or whatever) blogs, they could be owned by the one account. This is purely for reasons of being attractive to the search engines.

Why do you want to avoid the obvious hosts? Granted, if you want to monetize, you need to either pay for hosted Wordpress. But what do you have against Blogger?

You don't need to have FB or Twitter accounts to use "like" or "tweet" buttons. But you should seriously consider using them yourself, for promotion purposes. Most serious bloggers that I follow have at least a Twitter account, a Facebook page, and an RSS feed as well as the blog.

What do you mean by 'pay for hosted wordpress'. I thought you could have ads for free on wordpress just not adsence ads as I've just recently found out....

My understanding is that you cannot have any ads on blogs hosted on wordpress.org
